MATTER launches Elevate Network for angel investors

Program introduces early-stage MATTER startups to accredited angels

August 3, 2022 CHICAGO – MATTER, the premier healthcare incubator and innovation hub, today announced the launch of MATTER’s Elevate Network, a group of accredited angel investors receiving first looks at cutting-edge, early-stage MATTER portfolio companies. MATTER has been successful at helping portfolio companies raise capital at every stage: Last year, for example, 144 of MATTER’s member companies raised a combined total of $829 million. One of the persistent challenges for early-stage startups, however, remains access to capital, and those challenges have only increased this year as economic conditions have shifted.

The goal of the Elevate Network is to reduce the friction involved in raising early-stage capital and to enhance deal flow for angel investors. The Elevate Network is not a formal angel “group.” It does not conduct diligence or structure deals. Rather, the network is a way to surface opportunities for investors to connect with healthcare and life sciences companies within the MATTER portfolio.

“The biggest challenge for early-stage startups is raising enough capital to fuel their growth,” said MATTER CEO Steven Collens. “The Elevate Network is an important new resource for MATTER member companies to connect with accredited investors and for investors to meet high-potential startups.”
