Edward-Elmhurst Health and MATTER partner to advance safe, seamless and personal solutions

Chicago, IL — Edward-Elmhurst Health, one of the largest integrated health systems in Illinois, and MATTER, the premier healthcare incubator and innovation hub, announced a partnership to accelerate innovation and improve the healthcare experience.

“This partnership is a big step toward creating a better healthcare experience for our patients and communities,” said Mary Lou Mastro, System CEO, Edward-Elmhurst Health. “We’re thrilled to be a part of the MATTER community.”

The partnership between Edward-Elmhurst Health and MATTER will further the health system’s vision to transform the healthcare experience and continue to develop safe, seamless and personal solutions to improve health and healthcare.

“Advancing a more proactive, predictive and personalized healthcare system will take leaders such as Edward-Elmhurst Health working together with entrepreneurs and a broader community of innovators,” said Steven Collens, MATTER CEO. “Together we will work to envision, build and implement the right solutions that help us achieve this goal.”

Last fall, Edward-Elmhurst Health initiated a Driven Idea Lab™ to accelerate the adoption of new innovations, which includes a $5 million venture fund. The system also recently hosted a competition designed to provide staff, physicians and volunteers of Edward-Elmhurst Health with the opportunity to share their innovative healthcare solutions.

By partnering with MATTER, Edward-Elmhurst Health plans to build on the success of these initiatives, deepening the system’s relationships with the healthcare innovation community.

“I have had the opportunity to collaborate with leaders from both MATTER and Edward-Elmhurst Health,” said Ariel Efergan, founder of Pangea Medical, a care coordination technology company and MATTER member. “I look forward to seeing the opportunities this partnership will create for the entrepreneurial community to work together with innovators from Edward-Elmhurst Health.”
