How to foster a thriving hybrid work culture: Insights from Meighan Newhouse (10Pearls, Inspirant Group)

In today’s dynamic work environment, leaders must attract, recruit and retain talent for the workforce of the future. As the co-founder and CEO of an innovative consulting firm, Meighan Newhouse fostered an award-winning, remote-first organization that employees loved working for. Under her leadership at Inspirant Group, the company was recognized as a Best Remote First Company in the U.S. for three consecutive years (BuiltIn), listed among 22 Startups to Watch in 2022 (BuiltIn), achieved Great Place to Work certification and received Inc.’s prestigious “Best Workplace” honor.

Earlier this month, during a high-energy workshop, Newhouse shared her insights on creating teams where employees are motivated to give their best, regardless of where they work.

Here are some key takeaways from the event:

Insight One: Hybrid work is here to stay. According to a study cited by Newhouse and originally published by Forbes, 98 percent of workers express a preference for working remotely at least part of the time. As a result, hybrid work, which combines remote and in-office work, is rapidly becoming one of the most dominant workplace modalities, reshaping how companies operate and how employees engage with their work.

Insight Two: There are numerous benefits to hybrid work. A hybrid work culture offers several significant advantages, including more efficient use of time, as employees can balance in-office and remote work to optimize their productivity. Additionally, companies benefit from reduced employee turnover, as hybrid models tend to increase job satisfaction and retention. The ability to offer remote work options also allows organizations to access a larger and more diverse talent pool, as they no longer need to contend with geographic limitations.

Insight Three: Cultural values can make or break an organization. Newhouse recommends cultivating an organizational culture grounded in guiding principles rather than rigid policies. This approach allows for a more adaptable and inclusive work environment. Additionally, providing employees with flexibility and autonomy is crucial in fostering a positive workplace culture. Imposing mandates, on the other hand, can be counterproductive, often leading to employee alienation and decreased morale. By focusing on principles and offering freedom in how work is approached, organizations can create a more engaged and motivated workforce.
