MATTER partners with Roche Diabetes Care to source solutions for integrated Personalized Diabetes Management

The partners unveil a startup contest to improve precision health for those living with diabetes.

Chicago, IL, November 20, 2019 — MATTER, the premier healthcare incubator and innovation hub, today announced a partnership with Roche Diabetes Care, a global leader in integrated Personalized Diabetes Management (iPDM), to host the 2019-2020 Roche Diabetes Care Innovation Contest. The contest will source solutions that improve diabetes management and provide greater insight into care planning for people living with diabetes and their healthcare providers.

“For over 40 years, and with its Accu-Chek brand, Roche Diabetes Care has been dedicated to enabling people with diabetes to live life as normal and active as possible, as well as empowering healthcare professionals to optimally manage their condition,” said Stephen Ranjan, Roche Diabetes Care Vice President of Professional and Non-Insulin Therapy Franchise.”Our current Accu-Chek products offers people with diabetes and healthcare professionals innovative products and impactful solutions for convenient, efficient and effective diabetes management. We are excited to partner with MATTER as we continuously innovate in order to further improve medical outcomes and the quality of life of people with diabetes.”

By 2045, the number of people living with diabetes is expected to increase by more than 50 percent. With the rapid growth of this population, empowering those living with diabetes to more easily manage their care is more important than ever. The 2019-2020 Roche Diabetes Care Innovation Contest hopes to accelerate such innovations by advancing solutions that help people with diabetes more precisely identify the combinations of therapies and behaviors that will improve their blood glucose control, monitor and track their diabetes management and help them implement a targeted and personalized roadmap of care.

“If we can help identify tools that equip people with diabetes with actionable insights, we could make a significant difference in their lives” said Arun Bhatia, senior director of partner engagement at MATTER. “We are excited to be working with an industry leader like Roche to engage with startups that are driving positive change in this space. Through this contest, our hope is to bring together some of the smartest minds who are passionate about solving this need.”
