Parkview Health and MATTER announce Neurobell as Healthy Mom & Baby 3.0 winner
Novel infant seizure detection device will move forward with pilot at Parkview Health
November 28, 2022, CHICAGO and FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Parkview Health and MATTER have announced that Neurobell, a pocket-sized EEG monitor with automated seizure detection for newborns, won the top prize of a pilot with Parkview Health as an outcome of the Healthy Mom & Baby Innovation Competition 3.0 final pitch day.
“Seizures are enormously dangerous for infants, and Neurobell is dedicated to helping create earlier, easier monitoring and interventions for this most fragile population. We are thrilled to be moving forward with a pilot program with Parkview Health to advance our product,” said Dr. Mark O’Sullivan, founder of Neurobell, who is based in the INFANT Research Centre in Cork, Ireland.

This year, we focused on maternal and pediatric health, and Neurobell is a fantastic example of how innovation can change the way we identify and treat disease in our littlest patients,” said Parkview Chief Digital and Innovation Officer Jolynn Suko. “We are excited about collaborating on a pilot program with this team and pursuing ongoing opportunities with the cohort of finalists.”
The finalist cohort included Walela, NeuroBell, Loquet and Rockfield Medical Devices. All teams will continue to advance their businesses with six-month memberships at MATTER. Neurobell will begin framing a pilot to occur at Parkview. Walela and Loquet will benefit from ongoing mentorship from the Parkview team. Following their recent FDA approval, Rockfield Medical Devices received their first U.S. purchase order from Parkview Health on pitch day.
“Through the accelerator we built together with Parkview this year, we were able to identify entrepreneurs building novel solutions to improve maternal and child health, and then nurture collaborations to ensure the best outcomes for both the startups and Parkview. The teams all made great progress through the program, and I’m delighted that Parkview will be piloting with Neurobell, purchasing Rockfield’s product and working closely with Walela and Loquet to continue to develop their solutions,” said MATTER CEO Steven Collens.
