MATTER startup shoutouts: Spring 24

Every day, innovators across the MATTER community are building new solutions that accelerate innovation, advance care and improve lives. Over the last three months, MATTER startups completed raises, fostered impactful partnerships and much more.

There’s no shortage of good news to celebrate in the MATTER community. Learn more about our collective accomplishments below.


Five MATTER startups received strategic investments or completed raises.

Acorai secured over $4.5 million in seed funding.
Acorai, the new standard in heart failure management, raised more than $4.5 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by Solardis Health Ventures, with participation from KHP Ventures, Carma Fund and others.

Bone Health Technologies closed a $5 million financing round.
Bone Health Technologies, a health technology innovator cultivating non-invasive bone health solutions, closed an oversubscribed $5 million financing round with investment from Esplanade Ventures, Berkeley Catalyst Fund and Terumo Medical.

CareYaya received pilot funding.
CareYaya, a trusted solution for recurring senior care, was awarded pilot funding from Johns Hopkins and the National Institutes of Health through the a2 Pilot Awards.

Dina raised a $7 million Series B round.
Dina raised a $7 million Series B funding round led by First Analysis with participation from Osage Venture Partners and First Trust Capital Partners.

HabitNu was awarded $14 million by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
HabitNu, a company that leverages behavioral economics for diabetes prevention and management, was awarded a $14 million, five-year cooperative agreement with the CDC.

Nine MATTER startups secured impactful partnerships to help expand and scale their businesses.

AIRS Medical partnered with ParagonCare to expand its distribution network throughout Australia.
Award-winning MRI enhancement solution provider AIRS Medical partnered with ParagonCare to leverage ParagonCare’s extensive distribution network and sales process in Australia.

C the Signs and Cancer Insights were selected to join the inaugural CancerX Accelerator cohort.
C the Signs, a cancer prediction system, and Cancer Insights, a bi-directional platform for patients and clinicians, were selected for the CancerX Accelerator cohort. CancerX is a public-private partnership announced by the White House as a national accelerator to boost innovation in the fight against cancer.

Carium partnered with CareDirections to launch a post-acute stroke care solution.
Care management platform Carium partnered with CareDirections to launch StrokeCP, a clinically and financially validated digital health platform.

Clearstep partnered with Tufts Medicine.
Clearstep, a clinically-validated AI chat tool, announced a partnership with Tufts Medicine to enhance healthcare for millions of patients across the New England region.

Health Note announced a partnership expansion with Springfield Clinic.
Health Note expanded their partnership with Springfield Clinic to further digitize the patient experience with patient self-scheduling, intake and clinical documentation across the enterprise.

Neurotrack partnered with virtual care clinic Midi Health.
Neurotrack has partnered with Midi Health in order to provide clinicians with cognitive assessments to help assess brain fog associated with menopause.

TCARE partnered with Mon4t to equip caregivers with medical grade mobile technology.
Caregiver support platform TCARE has partnered with Mon4t to equip TCARE’s vast network of caregivers with Mon4t’s medical grade tool that can be used to run gait, cognitive and balance assessments just by using their smartphone.

Vivo and Intermountain Health announced a new joint research study.
Vivo and Intermountain Health announced a joint research study on the use of Vivo’s virtual strength training for older adults with osteoarthritis.

VUNO partnered with DRGEM to embed VUNO’s advanced AI solutions into DRGEM’s X-ray systems.
VUNO has advanced their mission to “View the Invisible, Know the Unknown” with a new partnership with DRGEM, which will embed VUNO’s advanced AI solutions into DRGEM’s X-ray systems.

12 MATTER startups reached key milestones to advance their businesses.

Backpack Healthcare joined the Department of Commerce’s initiative to support the development and deployment of trustworthy and safe AI.
Pediatric and family mental healthcare provider Backpack Healthcare joined more than 200 of the nation’s leading AI stakeholders to participate in a Department of Commerce initiative to support the development and deployment of trustworthy and safe AI.

Blueprint announced an AI Notetaker solution.
Mental health technology company Blueprint announced the launch of their AI Notetaker solution, which reportedly saved up to five hours per week per clinician during beta-testing.

Bone Health Technologies’ Osteoboost™ received FDA clearance.
Bone Health Technologies announced FDA clearance of their Osteoboost™ technology, the first prescription medical device to treat low bone density.

CareAcademy launched their new hospice care curriculum.
CareAcademy, an online training platform used by thousands of caregivers across the U.S., launched their hospice care curriculum, marking a significant expansion of its offerings to support post-acute care providers.

CareValidate launched the CareGLP program.
CareValidate announced the launch of its groundbreaking new program, CareGLP, an obesity telehealth marketplace.

Densitas announced the commercial release of intelliMaven™, a technology that will advance mammography quality standards.
Densitas announced the commercial release of intelliMaven™, a groundbreaking GPT AI assistant for mammography quality.

The Nanodropper is going to space.
Nanodropper’s eye drop bottle adapter is heading to space with NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8.

NovaScan was awarded the Rick Carone Pancreatic Cancer Research Grant.
In collaboration with Dr. Paul Grippo, Associate Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, cancer detection instrumentation provider NovaScan was awarded the Rick Carone Pancreatic Cancer Research Grant.

Onward launched the Companion Rides™ program.
Onward, a comprehensive healthcare transportation solution, launched their Companion Rides™ and transportation management services to patients traveling to Stanford Health’s Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.

PranaQ gained one more step toward FDA clearance.
Digital healthcare company PranaQ received medical-grade performance validation from leading medical institutes in the United States, a crucial step toward their FDA clearance.

Ready. Set. Food! announced a new Access for All program.
Baby food manufacturing company Ready. Set. Food! announced its new Access for All program, which will provide early allergen introduction solutions to families on Medicaid.

VUNO announced record revenue in 2023.
The medical AI industry pioneer VUNO reported a consolidated revenue of $9.9 million for 2023.
