MATTER and Advocate Aurora Health announce the third annual Health Tech Venture Challenge
The 2021 challenge calls for solutions that prevent clinician burnout and support clinician well-being
Downers Grove and Chicago, IL — Advocate Aurora Health, one of the 12 largest not-for-profit integrated health systems in the country, and MATTER, the premier healthcare incubator and innovation hub, today announced the launch of the third Health Tech Venture Challenge. The global competition is seeking to accelerate solutions that prevent clinician burnout and promote well-being.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has made clinicians’ jobs even more challenging,” said MATTER CEO Steven Collens. “Improving the well-being of our healthcare workers needs to be a priority, and after the last year I can’t think of a better focus for this initiative.”
The 2021 Health Tech Venture Challenge is open to existing startups that have an established product-market fit and are seeking opportunities to pilot their solutions within health systems. Their solutions should answer the following question: How might we grow and sustain our culture of well-being for busy clinicians and/or clinical teams through innovative solutions, tools or resources?
To participate, startups should submit a three-minute pitch video by June 4, 2021 at 5:00pm CDT. Five to seven semi-finalists will be selected to meet with leaders from MATTER and the Advocate Aurora Health innovation team. Three to five startups will advance to the culminating event the week of July 19, where the finalists will present their solutions to Advocate Aurora Health executives and the MATTER community. The winning team will receive a $10,000 cash prize, a six-month MATTER membership and the commitment from Advocate Aurora Health to pilot their solution.
“We’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with an impressive roster of startups and other innovative companies through the past two challenges with MATTER,” said Kathie Bender Schwich, Chief Spiritual Officer and leader of Wellbeing initiatives at Advocate Aurora Health. “Every year we’ve been impressed with the range of solutions that are submitted. Provider and team members well-being is a top priority at Advocate Aurora Health and we’re looking forward to meeting startups with creative solutions that can help us make a positive impact for clinicians and team members.”
