MATTER Startup Shoutouts: August 2022

Every day, innovators across the MATTER community are building new solutions that accelerate innovation, advance care and improve lives. Over the last three months, MATTER startups raised more than $50 million, won prominent innovation challenges, received notable grants, fostered impactful partnerships and much more.

There’s no shortage of good news to celebrate in the MATTER community. Learn more about our community’s impressive accomplishments below.


MATTER members raised more than $50 million over the last three months.

AIRS Medical raised $20 million to bring their diagnostic solutions to the global market.

AIRS Medical, a healthcare startup based in South Korea, announced that it raised $20 million in Series B funding. New investors have joined the round including Q Capital Partners and Hanwha Life, while Klim Ventures continues its support via follow-on investments since Series A. AIRS Medical will use the funds to bring diagnostic tests based on artificial intelligence and robotics to market.

Health Note raised $17 million to accelerate their market expansion.

Health Note, the pre-visit clinical intake automation platform, announced the closing of a $17 million Series A round led by SignalFire. Health Note will use the funds to accelerate market expansion, expand EHR integrations and invest in further R&D to build additional offerings for clinical support.

Naborforce raised $9 million to advance their solution and expand across the country.

Naborforce, a high-growth age tech company that connects older adults to a network of trusted “Nabors” for on-demand support and social engagement, announced the closing of a $9 million Series A round led by Translink Capital. Naborforce will use the financing to further invest in its technology-driven solution, increase hiring and expand across the country.

NovaXS raised $1 million to build a prototype of its needle-free delivery of self-administered medicines.

Alina Su, founder and CEO of NovaXS, was featured in Forbes. The article highlights a recent pitch of NovaXS and their recent raise of $1 milion. The company plans to use the funds to build a prototype of a new device to provide needle-free delivery of self-administered medicines.

Sift Healthcare raised $9 million to support their accelerated growth and new product launch.

Sift Healthcare announced the closing of a $9 million Series A round led by investors Allos Ventures and First Trust Capital Partners with continued support from Rock River Capital Partners and the Winnebago Seed Fund. Sift Healthcare is the leading data science company enabling increased patient payment and payer reimbursement for healthcare providers. The company will use the funds to support the accelerating sales of its denials management and patient payment solutions as well as the launch of a new mid-cycle denials prevention solution.

Sympatic raised a pre-seed round to revolutionize zero-copy data use.

Sympatic, a data collaboration platform that allows users to create and manage safe data sandboxes in their cloud of choice, raised a pre-seed round led by Saltagen Ventures with participation from ScaleGood Fund. The company will use the funds to advance their VirtualVault® data management solution to enable the full power of deep medical data to be used to drive discovery and new AI models.


Six MATTER startups received grants, won innovation competitions and were accepted in accelerators.

ConnectCareHero and Grapefruit Health each received $100,000 from the Google for Startups Latino Founders Fund.

Osvaldo Montelongo, founder and CEO of ConnectCareHero, and Eric Alvarez, founder and CEO of Grapefruit Health, each received $100,000 from the Google for Startups Latino Founders Fund. In addition, they’ll receive hands-on support and mentorship from Googlers across the company, $100,000 in Google Cloud credits and access to therapy sessions to use as needed for any support they may need emotionally and professionally.

Enduvo was awarded a contract with the U.S. Air Force.

Enduvo, an intuitive, immersive content authoring and distribution platform, was awarded an SBIR Phase III contract from the U.S. Air Force to build out additional capabilities for its immersive virtual classroom. As a part of the contract, Enduvo will improve analytics and reporting functionality as well as the ability to measure engagement with non-immersive training content.

MindTrace was awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation.

Mindtrace was awarded a $256,000 SBIR Phase I grant from the National Science Foundation. The grant will focus on creating a new cognitive dashboard to support clinical decision making during neurosurgery.

Neursantys won the 2022 What’s Next Longevity Venture Summit.

Neursantys won the 2022 What’s Next Longevity Venture Summit $10,000 Business Plan Competition. Neursantys was selected by a panel of six judges representing top investors in the longevity market. It marks significant recognition for the company’s first product, NEURVESTA, which addresses age-related balance degeneration.

Phiex Technologies won the 2022 Vision Award from MedTech Innovator.

Phiex Technologies won the 2022 Vision Award and $11,000 in non-dilutive funding from MedTech Innovator. Phiex Technologies’ innovative material enables a medical device’s packaging to self-sterilize throughout the shipping process.

SOAP Health was selected for Mayo Clinic’s Platform_Accelerate Program.

SOAP Health was selected to the second cohort of Mayo Clinic’s Platform_Accelerate program. The company will receive a $200,000 benefit package that includes access to Mayo Clinic’s de-identified datasets, AI model validation frameworks, data science and Food and Drug Administration clearance pathway guidance and clinical workflow planning support.


Four MATTER startups secured impactful partnerships to help expand and scale their business.

cliexa partners with Lucem health to address opioid use.

cliexa announced a partnership with Lucem Health to bring its opioid use disorder prediction platform to the point of care. cliexa’s platform empowers pain management teams with the right data at the right time and directly within the workflow of electronic medical records, freeing up clinic staff’s cognitive space and enabling clinicians to make the best choice for the patient sitting in front of them.

Memora Health partners with Edward-Elmhurst Health to simplify complex care journeys.

Memora Health, the leading technology platform for virtual care delivery and complex care management, announced a partnership with Edward-Elmhurst Health, an integrated Illinois health system that operates three hospitals and serves 1.7 million residents across the west and southwest suburbs of Chicago. Edward-Elmhurst Health will leverage Memora’s clinical intelligence platform to automate clinicians’ routine care tasks, streamline call center operations, improve the patient experience and increase patient engagement.

Wellsheet partners with athenahealth to simplify the clinician experience.

Wellsheet announced a partnership with athenahealth® Marketplace to improve EHR productivity and reduce clinician burnout. Wellsheet’s predictive and customizable smart EHR user interface is now available to athenahealth’s marketplace and can be deployed in days at athenahealth sites. Clinicians can be trained in minutes to provide immediate relief to clinicians amid the highest levels of clinician burnout in history.

Xandar Kardian partners with TapestryHealth to provide specialized remote patient monitoring.

Xandar Kardian, a rapidly-growing health monitoring solutions company, announced a partnership with TapestryHealth. TapestryHealth will leverage Xandar Kardian’s radar-centric technology to support specialized remote patient monitoring for skilled nursing facilities through the use of autonomous and continuous vital sign management. The partnership will easily add remote clinical support for TapestryHealth’s residents with minimal cost and staff disruption.
