Senator Tom Daschle and Governor Mike Leavitt at MATTER
As the Health Care Council of Chicago Celebrates One Year, Senator Daschle and Governor Leavitt Call for Engagement and Collaboration
Last Thursday, we celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Health Care Council of Chicago (HC3), an initiative of MATTER and Leavitt Partners to facilitate the interconnected success of Chicagoland healthcare companies in the value-based economy.
The evening featured a conversation between Senator Tom Daschle and Governor Mike Leavitt. These national leaders reflected on the last year in healthcare and shared their advice – and hope – for the future. Marilyn Vetter, vice president, government and public affairs at Horizon Pharma, moderated the discussion.
MATTER and Leavitt Partners launched HC3 one year ago to help Chicagoland healthcare companies expand their intellectual, technical, human, and financial capital. Since then, the council has hosted a number of distinguished guests, including Senator Bill Frist, Dr. Zeke Emanuel, Dr. Karen DeSalvo, and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

HC3 Open Enrollment Initiative
At last week’s event, HC3 also announced its first initiative, an effort to help Chicagoans access healthcare. As the leaders of highly influential organizations, HC3 members are making a collective effort to distribute open enrollment resources aggregated by the council – including call centers, enrollment centers, and educational materials – so that all Chicagoans have the information they need to identify or maintain healthcare coverage.
