MATTER Startup Shoutouts: Fall 2024

Every day, innovators across the MATTER community are building new solutions that accelerate innovation, advance care and improve lives. Over the last three months, MATTER startups secured funding, fostered impactful partnerships, received FDA approval and more.

Five MATTER startups secured funds through pitch competitions, grants and venture capital.

AIRS Medical raised a $20 million Series C.
AIRS Medical, a company utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics to create healthcare applications, raised a $20 million Series C funding round, led by BSK Investment and Shinyoung Securities. With the funding, AIRS Medical aims to expand its presence in international markets, invest in research and development and improve patient outcomes nationwide.

Backpack Healthcare received a $1.1 million grant.
Backpack Healthcare, a leading provider of mental health services, received a $1.1 million grant from the Maryland Community Health Resources Commision. The grant enables Backpack Healthcare to provide support to students, families and caregivers within Howard County Public Schools.

myBiometry received a $626,000 grant.
myBiometry, a medical device company, received a $626,000 grant from the Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative. The grant will be used to manufacture their single-use, disposable gas sensor that measures airway inflammation in asthma patients to detect asthma attacks days in advance.

Decimal Code wins $100,000 at pitch competition.
Decimal Code, a medical coding company, won $100,000 in cash prizes at Ann Arbor SPARK’s Invest360 competition. The company aims to utilize artificial intelligence to automate medical billing and optimize repayment effectiveness by minimizing lost revenue-generating opportunities.

MyndYou received a strategic investment.
MyndYou, a healthcare technology company developing an AI-enabled virtual care assistant, received a strategic investment from WindRose Health Investors to support the company’s rapid growth.

Eight MATTER startups partnered with leading organizations to further accelerate innovation and advance care.

Arete Biosciences partnered with Biopharma Technology.
Arete Biosciences, a medical device company, partnered with Biopharma Technology LLC, the United States division of Biopharma Group, to establish a dedicated R&D analysis and small batch manufacturing laboratory in the U.S.

Blueprint partnered with Ensoftek.
Blueprint, a healthcare technology company, partnered with Ensoftek to integrate Blueprint’s AI-powered scribe technology into Ensoftek’s DrCloudEHR.

MouthWatch partnered with the Health Plan of San Mateo.
MouthWatch’s virtual-first dental care solution, Dentistry.One, was selected by the Health Plan of San Mateo as their virtual dental care solution, serving 150,000 eligible members.

NeuroXT partnered with Bey Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
NeuroXT, a company developing AI-driven solutions for neurological conditions, partnered with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to develop AI-driven imaging biomarker solutions that predict treatment success for Alzheimer’s Disease.

Rezilient Health partnered with Oklahoma State University and Langston University.
Rezilient Health, a leading tech-enabled primary care company, partnered with Oklahoma State University and Langston University to offer multispecialty care benefits to all their employees.

Strata Health partnered with industry leaders to improve the referral process.
Strata Health, a healthcare technology company, partnered with Surrey Place, Ontario eServices Program and OceanMD to improve the referral processes for primary care clinicians and hospitals.

Wellsheet partnered with Wolters Kluwer Health.
Wellsheet, an innovator in AI-powered clinical workflows, partnered with Wolters Kluwer Health. Wellsheet will integrate evidence-based content from UpToDate, Wolters Kluwer Health’s clinical decision support solution, into Wellsheet’s Smart EHR UI application.

Zite AI partnered with Carle Health.
Zite AI partnered with Carle Health to utilize advancements in their technology to improve access to care.

Eight MATTER startups reached key milestones to advance their businesses.

AITRICS received 510(k) FDA clearance.
AITRICS’ VitalCare solution received 510(k) FDA clearance. VitalCare is a clinical decision support system that can be integrated into hospitals’ EHR systems. The integration enables healthcare providers to monitor real-time changes in patient conditions.

Bone Health Technologies acquired Wellen.
Bone Health Technologies (BHT), a medical technology company developing non-pharmacological solutions to improve bone health and reduce fractures, acquired Wellen, a company reinventing exercise-based osteoporosis care as a personalized and science-backed solution. Acquiring Wellen will advance BHT’s vision of a comprehensive, multi-modal bone health solution, anchored by the company’s prescription-only FDA-cleared Osteoboost vibration therapy belt launching in late 2024.

Cylinder published a study.
Cylinder published results of a study showing that their digital health platform significantly improves digestive health symptoms.

Level Ex was acquired by Relevate Health.
Level Ex Games’ pharma and life science division was acquired by Relevate Health Group. Relevate Health will work with Level Ex Games to reach more healthcare professionals through their proven and trusted data-driven omnichannel engagement approach.

LIVEMED Telehealth signed a five-year deal to expand care to more than 45 rural hospitals across the U.S.
LIVEMED Telehealth, a leading physician-led health technology company, signed a five-year deal with a network of over 45 rural hospitals across the United States. The deal is a significant step in expanding access to high-quality healthcare in underserved communities by integrating LIVEMED’s state-of-the-art smart technology solutions with its team of multispecialty physicians.

OpenLoop Health expanded to new markets.
OpenLoop Health, a leader in white label telehealth support services, announced expanding to new industry markets now offering services to the employer and health system space. In tandem, OpenLoop invested in their AI for clinical operations to help facilitate their growth.

Partum Health expanded to Dallas.
Partum Health, a Chicago-based maternal health startup that offers direct-to-consumer interdisciplinary pregnancy and postpartum care, expanded their services to Dallas, their third market.

TimeDoc Health received HITRUST i1 Certification.
TimeDoc Health, a leading provider of virtual care management services for patients with chronic illnesses, received HITRUST i1 Certification in recognition of their best practices for information risk management and cybersecurity.
