The MATTER Space

Much has changed since MATTER opened in 2015 — with our programs and services, our global reach and the way that much of the world now shows up for work.

MATTER is currently located in a temporary office on the fifth floor (suite 570) of The Merchandise Mart. While it may be temporary, this office has all the amenities you may need for coworking, event hosting or networking with other startups.

In April 2025, we will move into spectacular new offices on the second floor of the building — with soaring ceilings, tons of windows with great views of the Chicago river and the city, and a prime location near all the building’s amenities.

Accessing the Space

MATTER’s office on the 5th floor is accessible via the Kinzie/Wells elevators (by the escalators on the east end of the building – across from Starbucks on the first floor; across from Dunkin’ Donuts on the second floor)

Events at MATTER

Until we move into our new offices, events will be split between our office on the fifth floor and “Meet on 6;” a temporary event space for larger programs.

Where is MATTER moving?
We are staying at the Merchandise Mart but will be relocating to a different floor. Our temporary office will be in Suite 570 on the fifth floor. The building is also giving us access to a large event space on the 6th floor, where we will hold our larger events and programs. Can I still book conference rooms?
Yes. Any conference rooms you see in our system now that are reservable for meetings after July 11 will be located in our temporary office in suite 570. Need help booking a conference room? Contact your primary MATTER contact with your request.
