The MATTER Space

Since MATTER’s opening in 2015, much has changed — our programs and services, our global reach and how much of the world now shows up for work.

Last summer, we announced our upcoming office move. Starting Monday, April 7, MATTER will reopen on the second floor (suite 228) of The Merchandise Mart. The new space boasts soaring ceilings, expansive windows with stunning views of the Chicago River and city and a prime location near all the building’s amenities.

Due to construction delays, office amenities will become available in a phased approach. Starting April 7, a coworking space, our kitchen, classroom, restrooms and a limited number of conference rooms are available. By mid- to late-June, our full suite of event spaces and conference rooms will be available for booking.

Accessing the Space

MATTER’s new office is located in suite 228 on the second floor of The Merchandise Mart. The entrance is just west of Marshall’s Landing on the south side of the main corridor. Until construction is complete and the main entrance opens, use the unmarked gray door past the escalators, but before the skybridge across Orleans Street.

While we complete our new event space this summer, we will not accept event requests for May, June or July 2025 until further notice.

Where is MATTER moving?
Starting Monday, April 7, we will begin operating from our new home on the second floor of The Merchandise Mart. Our new office is suite 228 just west of Marshall’s Landing. This new space will better fit the evolving needs of our community.

Can I still co-work out of MATTER?
Yes. The new MATTER space will offer a variety of conference rooms and coworking options, including desks with large monitors, soft seating areas, multi-seat tables, standing desks, privacy desks and collaborative spaces.

Can I still book conference rooms?
Yes. The new MATTER space will offer a variety of conference room sizes. Members can book conference rooms through Robin. If you need assistance booking a conference room, please email info@matter.health with your company name, date, time block and anticipated number of in-person attendees for the reservation. Additionally, when in-person, each conference room will have a tablet to display availability and allow immediate booking for two-hour increments. Does MATTER offer office space or dedicated desks?
We no longer rent offices or designated desks, but we offer monthly coworking passes for those who want regular access to the facility.
