Visiting MATTER

Updates, protocols and frequently asked questions

The MATTER team is committed to making our Chicago headquarters as safe and welcoming as possible for everyone who visits our facility.

Mask protocols

MATTER’s COVID-related mask policy is:

  • Masks are not required, however MATTER is a mask-friendly space.

Space protocols

The following protocols will remain in place until further notice:

  • There are no capacity limits at MATTER.
  • You may eat or drink in the space as we did prior to the pandemic; please clean up after yourself.
  • Please follow the direction of all posted signs and/or instructions from MATTER team members when visiting MATTER’s Merchandise Mart facility.
  • If you do not feel well, please do not come to the office.
  • Guests will be welcome as long as they follow all the above stated guidelines.

Workspace

  • Transparent acrylic shields have been installed at all workstations throughout the Premium and Shared work areas. Please do not attempt to wipe the shields with any chemical. Ask the help desk for assistance.

  • All phone rooms are open for use.

  • Phone rooms and standard conference rooms are equipped with HEPA air purifiers. Although they don’t kill the COVID-19 virus, there is evidence it reduces particles in the air that can carry the virus.

Kitchen

  • We have changed the fixtures in our kitchen, so that touchless faucets, soap and towel dispensers are available for your convenience and safety.
  • Both the coffee machine and water machine have been cleaned and flushed.

Cleanliness

  • Professional cleaners service the MATTER space Monday through Friday. All surfaces are wiped down, trash is removed and carpets are vacuum cleaned.
  • There are sanitation stations located around the space. We recommend cleaning desks and tables with the surface wipes after using and upon entry to spaces. Hand sanitizer stations are also available throughout the space.

Communication

Watch our in-space digital signage, Slack and emails for ongoing updates as guidance evolves.
